DENR recommends
revision of baselines bill |
|
With Congress set to pass its own version of the
baseline bill next week, the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR) has recommended that the lines enclosing the main
archipelago and the Kalayaan Group of Islands and Scarborough Shoal
be treated as regimes of the islands.
DENR Secretary Lito Atienza said
on Friday that the recommendation, which excludes the contentious
islands, is one of the four options the department has submitted to
the Commission in Maritime and Ocean Affairs through the National
Mapping Resource and Information Agency.
