FILIPINO Grandmaster (GM) Wesley So romped off to hot start,
trouncing GM Anton Filippov of Uzbekistan in the first round of the
Aeroflot Chess Festival 2009 at the Hotel Gamma Delta
in Izmailovo Tourist Complex in
Moscow, Russia.
So, who is seeking a fitting follow-up to his
successful campaign in the Corus tournament in Wijk Aan Zee,
Netherlands early this month, pounced on a decisive blunder by
Filippov in the endgame to clinch the win in 40 moves.
