US automakers seek billions more in loans
|
|
WASHINGTON D.C.: General Motors (GM) and Chrysler went cap-in-hand
to the US government, calling for billions more in loans to stave
off bankruptcy and win extra time for restructuring.
Both companies met Tuesday’s deadline to
present plans to the US Treasury, an attempt to convince government
of their long-term viability, one of the conditions of a
$17.4-billion govern-ment bailout.
