Govt use of foreign aid falls despite promised stimulus

PHILIPPINE disbursement of foreign aid for public projects fell more than half last year as agencies led by the Department of Public and Highways failed to use available funds, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said.

Eric Planta, NEDA Project Monitoring Staff director, told reporters that the amount of official development assistance (ODA) that was disbursed last year dropped 60 percent to $781 million from $1.9 billion in 2007.
