MILF hits government
apathy
in dealing with hostage crisis |
|
Secretary Teodoro says negotiating would negatively
affect anti-crime efforts |
|
By Julmunir I. Jannaral, Correspondent
COTABATO CITY: The Moro Islamic
Liberation Front (MILF) on Friday hit the government for trying to
“sacrifice the lives of the International Committee of the Red
Cross [ICRC] workers” for its deliberate, pretentious, and
apathetic attitude toward negotiating the release of these three
workers of the ICRC who are still in the hands of their abductors,
an MILF senior leader said.
Khaled Musa, deputy chairman of
the MILF committee on information, was reacting to the recent
statement made by Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, who told
reporters in Manila that the government would not negotiate with
kidnappers despite the appeal of the victims for help to start the
talks.
