MILF hits government apathy 
in dealing with hostage crisis

Secretary Teodoro says negotiating would negatively affect anti-crime efforts

COTABATO CITY: The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Friday hit the government for trying to “sacrifice the lives of the International Committee of the Red Cross [ICRC] workers” for its deliberate, pretentious, and apathetic attitude toward negotiating the release of these three workers of the ICRC who are still in the hands of their abductors, an MILF senior leader said.

Khaled Musa, deputy chairman of the MILF committee on information, was reacting to the recent statement made by Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, who told reporters in Manila that the government would not negotiate with kidnappers despite the appeal of the victims for help to start the talks.
