High fertilizer cost hobbles 
Philippines agriculture, says official


The Philippines agricultural sector grew just 3.9 percent in 2008 due to the high cost of petroleum-based fertilizer as crude costs soared at the start of the year, a report said Friday.

The fallout from the high price of oil was felt in the final quarter of the year, when output growth eased to 3.2 percent, compared with 5.4 percent in the same period in 2007.
