Senate scrambles to pass key bills |
|
The Senate is struggling to pass 22 priority measures, including
four pending ones, before the bicameral conference committee, as it
resumes its second regular session this afternoon after a month-long
Christmas break. It has only less than five months left to devote to
meaningful legislation to ease the impact on the Philippines of the
global economic crisis.
Sen. Edgardo Angara, the longest-serving senator
in the country today, said Congress must pass all vital measures by
June 5, 2009, when the second regular session adjourns sine die.
