Be pro-active, drop drug testing in schools

Random drug testing of high school students, according to Education Secretary Jesli Lapus, will start in February and run on till March.

His words about the much-criticized project are comforting. He assures the public that the process will not lead to corruption and that students tested will not be subjected to humiliation. Apparently, the Department of Education (DepEd) people and teachers involved in choosing the students at random will keep their mouths shut. They will invent, for the other students to swallow, reasons why some of them are being asked to march to the clinic or the principal’s office.
