Narco-politics threat to national security
|
|
Illegal drug gangs have penetrated Philippine politics “from the
municipal to the national level,” an official said, adding that
the narcotics problem was so grave that it had become a threat to
national security.
The warning, which put the drug trade at $6.4
billion to $8.4 billion a year, comes more than a year before
national elections in May 2010 and days after President Gloria
Arroyo named herself as anti-drug czar.
