Ramirez urges more Pagcor funding for PSC

William “Butch” Ramirez said that if there was one thing he was not able to do in his tenure as chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), it is giving the sports body its rightful share of the budget.

“One thing I was not able to do was to convince Efraim Genuino [president of the Philippine Amateur Gaming Corp. or Pagcor] to implement Republic Act 6847, the law that would give the PSC the five percent gross income of Pagcor,” said Ramirez, who resigned as PSC chairman after the 15-man RP team came home empty-handed from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
