Palace bucks ODA use
for rail transit projects
|

MALACAÑANG has blocked the use
of cheaper official development assistance (ODA) loans for two
railway projects, a National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)
official said.
Ruben Reinoso, NEDA
assistant director general for infrastructure, said the Palace
ordered that the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1
South Extension Project and the Metro Rail Transit Line 2 (MRT 2) be
funded through public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives
instead of ODA.
