G8, world hunger and poverty
|
|
The G8 group of the world’s richest nations began its summit
yesterday, Wednesday, July 8. Its meeting ends on Friday the 10th,
tomorrow. The topmost leaders of these countries are expected to
lead mankind in ending the present economic and financial crisis.
They are expected to make firm decisions on how the world’s
commerce and banking should proceed henceforth. Then they should
exercise the clout they have as the world’s most powerful
countries to enforce the road map and get the rest of mankind to
follow suit.
There are four areas they must agree on and
offer the rest of the world a definite plan so that the global
economy gets out of its present tunnel of darkness and enter the
period of recovery from the present economic and financial crisis.

The real Uighur story
|

When the Chinese government, with the comfort of hindsight, looks
back on its handling of the unrest in Urumqi and East Turkestan this
week, it will most likely tell the world with great satisfaction
that it acted in the interests of maintaining stability.
