Make-up may not seem essential to some, but for
22-year-old Carla Checa, it’s a crucial part of her everyday
routine. As a staff nurse at the St. Luke’s Hospital Global City
in Fort Bonifacio, Checa is required to wear make-up everyday.
It may be off-putting to think of Florence
Nightingale as even remotely glamorous, but try to imagine a
different kind of hospital set-up where surroundings are more
luxurious rather than drab. An atmosphere that is welcoming and
pleasant, rather than stark. This, she says, is exactly the concept
of healing that St. Luke’s wants for its patients.
