BIR to close down shops with tax deficiencies

Some 30 establishments, mostly small and medium sized enterprises nation wide, face temporary closure for failing to pay correct taxes, an official of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has reported to the House Oversight Committee.

Deputy Commissioner Nelson Aspe has appeared before the House Oversight Committee chaired by Rep. Danilo Suarez of Quezon Province to update Congress on the government’s effort to meet its revenue target for 2009.
