Rebels free Italian hostage |

Eugenio Vagni found ‘abandoned’ by Abu Sayyaf

The remaining International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) worker
held hostage by the Abu Sayyaf group for nearly six months was
released by his captors in Sulu province in southern Mindanao
around 12:10 a.m. of Sunday, officials said.
Eugenio Vagni, an Italian, was kidnapped in
Patikul town on January 15 with Andreas Notter, a Swiss, and
Filipino Mary Jean Lacaba during a humanitarian mission. Lacaba was
freed by the Abu Sayyaf on April 2 and Notter on April 18.
