The height of
self-seeking
|

THE pre-midnight passage on Tuesday of House Resolution 1109 reveals
once more that self-seeking rules the hearts and minds of those who
control political power in our country.
Self-seeking is the determined, immoral pursuit
of one’s own ends and interests. Self-seekers are concerned only
with themselves and their benefits. They are egocentric, egoistic,
egoistical, egomaniacal, egotistic, self-absorbed, self-centered,
selfish and perpetually self-serving. They place expediency above
principles. They are opportunists. There is no room for such virtues
as truthfulness, patriotism, concern for the poor or concern for
right and wrong, for preserving the rule of law and such niceties of
civilization and human solidarity in their hearts and minds.

Going light

Two weeks ago, I had the chance to accompany Governors Teddy

down south to Cagayan de Oro. They were invited to dialogue with
several groups in the area as well as address youth leaders in the
province on good governance.
