‘Big law firm’ smears nominee to SC vacancy
|

THE Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) will honor in their voting today
recommendations made by the Supreme Court (SC) on
candidates—including one who is the subject of an alleged
demolition job by a “big law firm”—who had been shortlisted
for the two vacancies in the High Tribunal.
JBC ex-officio member and Rep. Matias Defensor of Quezon City,
during an interview with The Manila Times over the weekend, defended
Court of Appeals (CA) Justice Josefina Gutierrez-Salonga, saying
that failing in the Bar examinations was no reason for Salonga to be
stricken out as a candidate for the vacancies in the SC.
