Election spending to drop

GMA will not run next year, says Palace

The poor state of the economy would likely rein in election expenses and make next year’s presidential race not as expensive as previous polls, the chairman of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) said Sunday.

Former Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy Jr., NPC chairman, said he did not expect the former big campaign contributors to be as generous in supporting their chosen presidential candidate in 2010.
