OWWA’s deficiencies

It was Filipino Migrant Workers Day last Sunday. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) of course celebrated the occasion as in the past 13 June 7s honoring in words the economic heroes of our nation—the OFWs, or overseas Filipino workers.

There were OWWA advertisements in some newspapers containing words of praise for OFWs. And words of praise, too, for OWWA’s performance as, in its own words, the “lead government agency tasked to protect and promote the welfare and well-being of overseas Filipino workers [OFWs] and their dependents.”
