Iran’s supreme leader rules out electoral fraud
|
|
TEHRAN: Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on
Friday the people had picked who they wanted in last week’s
presidential election as he made his first public appearance after
daily protests over the official results. Addressing the faithful at
the main weekly Muslim prayers in Tehran, Khamenei said the election
had also shown Iranians’ faith in the country’s Islamic system
and he ruled out fraud.
“The people have chosen whom they wanted,”
he said in the sermon, which was broadcast live across the nation
after a week of unrest that has unnerved the regime to cheers from
the massed ranks of the faithful.
