A new lease on life

Breast cancer survivors share their stories of triumph

As some would describe it, the battle against cancer is “like a long winter”—a harsh period of desolation and pain. Breast cancer survivor Jojette Yuhico tells of her story of passing through that dark season.

Yuhico first learned of her disease after feeling a lump on her breast while taking a bath. A diagnosis later confirmed that she has breast cancer. Yuhico underwent a radical mastectomy—a medical procedure wherein her breasts were removed. It saved her life, but it also left a scar that was too deep to bear.
