Cut ‘em and splice ‘em

Post-production technology exhibit kicks off today

“Post-production” in filmmaking parlance pertains to the stages of production involved after the actual shooting of the movie. Among the processes involved in post-production are the editing of both the picture and the soundtrack, the addition of visual effects as well as the transfer of film to video. Prior to the advent of digital movie making, the latter is of utmost importance because raw film footages must be viewed first with standard video equipment such as televisions, video cassette decks or computers before being subjected to editing.

Many industry professionals would attest that post-production takes longer to complete than the actual shooting of the movie itself.
