Beware of betrayal
on SONA Day
|
|
SEN. Francis Escudero can’t be
blamed for telling his inter viewer from The Star that he would just
watch the next State of the Nation Address (SONA) on television.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson was also being reasonably cautious when he said
he was going to boycott the SONA on July 27, not wanting to be made
an unwitting collaborator of ruling-majority congressmen out to
railroad the creation of a Constituent Assembly on the day President
Gloria Arroyo gives her ninth State of the Nation Address.
Is there really a sinister move
to turn the joint session of Congress on July 27 into a joint
session that would declare the formation of a unicameral body to
propose changes in or a replacement for the present Constitution?
Most if not all the senators believe so.
