Noli slams term extension

Move may threaten freedom, democracy

Vice President Noli de Castro has warned against pushing for term extension of government officials, saying that it poses a threat to constitutional liberties.

“If anyone is thinking of term extensions, including [prolonging] my term, I say, forget it. Banish the thought, as this is dangerous to Filipinos’ freedom and democracy,” the Vice President said during the 13th midyear conference and executive session of the Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc. held in Makati City on Wednesday.
