Overseas jobs beckon as crisis deepens

President Gloria Arroyo touched the right chord in the hearts of thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)  when she announced the other day that 500,000 jobs await them in countries suffering from acute labor shortages.

“For every job that a Filipino loses overseas, there are 100 jobs available,” she said, raising the morale of OFWs depressed by news of job losses abroad as a result of the deepening global economic crisis.
