THE country’s economic managers may be celebrating the decline in inflation, but viewed against a global slowdown, that local development should come as no surprise.

Any economist worth his salt knows that when demand slows, price increases ease. Our government officials need only look around them to see that inflation elsewhere in the world has fallen from last year’s peak.
