Kidapawan City bomb blast wounds nine

Cimatu says groups behind bomb scares in the region are believed to be Muslim extremists engaged in extortion

ZAMBOANGA CITY: At least nine people were wounded in a powerful bomb explosion on Sunday in Kidapawan City in Mindanao, police and military said.

Officials said the improvised bomb exploded near an overpass in the downtown area, wounding at least nine people. “Definitely this is the handiwork of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels,” said Lt. Col. Jonathan Ponce, spokesman for the Army’s 6th Infantry Division.
