Swede bags Lancer boys’ singles crown

Sixth seed Daniel Berta of Sweden halted the second set comeback of fifth pick Riki McLachlan of New Zealand en route to a 6-3, 6-4 victory and rule the 20th Mitsubishi-Lancer International Juniors Championships boys’ singles Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

The 16-year-old Berta took the first set in convincing fashion before McLachlan unleashed powerful serves and baseline attacks to post a commanding 3-1 lead early in the second set.
