Not willing to see her administration caught with its pants down in case the recession gets worse, President Gloria Arroyo has created the Presidential Task Force on Emergency Employment for any eventuality.

The economists have reassured us that the crisis is easing and layoffs have abated, but the Palace apparently is not taking chances. Mrs. Arroyo has named herself Task Force Commander to get a firmer hold of the jobs situation and to make sure the government gets full support from the public and private sectors.
