Bloodied innocence

‘Let the Right One In’

Romantic comedies starring humans might soon die out as the image of vampires ase the archtype of deadly seduction and eternal virility continues to mesmerize moviegoers. From Catherine Hardwicke’s 2008 blockbuster Twilight to Alan Ball’s hit TV series True Blood, undead creatures are gradually dominating the mainstream with teenagers sinking their teeth in these beguiling renditions of folklore.

Adults, too, have been charmed by these pale-skinned immortals, as the Swedish horror-cum-romance film Let the Right One In rose to international fame after bagging the accolades in various film festivals such as the Toronto After Dark and Tribeca film festivals late last year.
