CDC’s ‘next frontier’

Clark Development Corp.’s (CDC) new development program, called the Next Frontier, promises a business boom, a deeper advance into President Gloria Arroyo’s regional growth strategy and a new life for the Aetas who have lived in the Pampanga-Zambales-Tarlac axis for centuries.

CDC’s “next frontier” covers 2,477 of the 10,674 hectares of ancestral lands of the Aetas (also called Balugas) in the hills north of Clark proper. The Clark Freeport Zone is running out of space with businesses coming in and CDC must look for land to accommodate new investors, workers and residents. The area will be developed under a joint management agreement signed December 2007 with the subzone Aetas and other players.
