Besides possible failure of the
scheduled 2010 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) also
would have to bear with an apparent infighting between two of its
commissioners over which of them—Elias Yusoph and Leonardo Leonida—gets
to stay longer in the poll body.
A source has told The Manila
Times that Yusoph was angling for immediate confirmation by the
Commission on Appointments (CA) that would officially hand him a
full six-year term, which became available after Commissioner
Resurrecion Borra vacated his post.
