COTABATO CITY: A senior leader of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front
(MILF) disclosed Thursday that the separatist group is opposed to
the government’s bid for an observer status in the Organization of
Islamic Conference (OIC).
MILF Chief Negotiator and Chief Information
Officer Mohagher Iqbal, who attended the recent meeting of the
Department of Minorities and Muslim Affairs of the Islamic
conference on April 18 to 19 in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
told The Manila Times that Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim of the MILF
Central Committee has written letters to several foreign ministers
of the OIC member states expressing his opposition to the
government’s efforts to join the 57-member pan-Islamic body.
