Senate approves Villar trial

Minority slams rules, boycotts hearing again

The Senate Committee of the Whole approved on Thursday the trial of Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. for alleged conflict of interest in the C-5 Road Extension project.

All 12 senators present, including the complainant Sen. Jamby Madrigal, voted for Villar’s trial as they agreed with the recommendation of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile that Madrigal had presented substantial credible evidence in support of her charges. The minority again boycotted the proceedings.
