Malacaņang and the Department of Foreign Affairs have denied a newspaper story that President Gloria Arroyo has dismissed Ambassador to the United States Willy Gaa for failing to carry out a presidential order last February.

The Philippine Star reported on May 21 that the President, while in Washington, D.C., for the National Prayer Breakfast, instructed Mr. Gaa to take a picture of Mrs. Arroyo with President Barack Obama who was expected at the affair. She had designated the ambassador as photographer who had a good chance to shoot the two presidents together but failed. The story alleged that she ordered Gaa to ride with her in the presidential car where she presumably gave him a dressing-down.
