A case of LSS

The jingle makers of Hit Productions

They are just 15 to 30 seconds long. They aren’t meant to air for more than the length of a promo or an advertising campaign. And yet some of the most unforgettable and endearing music today—those that give listeners a case of LSS (last song syndrome) to last a lifetime—are commercial jingles. And for some musicians, they were born for this.

“When I was fooling around with my keyboard in high school, I was coming up with little 30 seconds snips of music and I think, ‘Wow, that was cool.’ Then I get bored and moved on to the next one. I’m not a songwriter. I’m not saying that the guys who work here are not songwriters. They’re actually damn good,” attests 37-year-old Victor Raimond Icasas, president of Hit Productions.
