Text tax will hurt poor subscribers, says Salceda

LEGAZPI CITY: Gov. Joey Salceda of Albay one of the economic advisers of President Gloria Arroyo strongly contested the passage of “tax on text” bill which according to him will gravely hurt the poor cellular phone subscribers, migrant workers and is bad economic and social policy for the government.

He said that the text is already subjected to 12 percent vat and 30 percent income tax. “I will recom­mend to President Gloria Maca­pagal-Arroyo to reject it,” Salceda told The Manila Times through a text message.
