In 2001, together with my friends Cristi and Je-el, we embarked on a
10-day vacation on the island of Sabah. With the Lonely Planet as
our guide and convincing ourselves that we will be backpacker
tourists, we excitedly boarded the plane to Kota Kinabalu.
