Mount Mayon registers ash explosions

Brownish volcanic dust rises to a maximum height of about 700 meters above the crater

LEGAZPI CITY: Three episodes of minor ash explosions took place over the summit crater of Mayon volcano on Tuesday morning three months after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) hoisted the alert level of volcano from level 1 to level 2 following the increasing trend of abnormal condition.

Ed Laguerta, Phivolcs resident volcanologist in Bicol told The Manila Times that the first occurrence of minor explosions occurred at 5:37 on Tuesday morning here.
