RP sweeps foes for place in Group 1

CECIL Mamiit and Treat Conrad Huey secured the country’s place in Group 1 next year with a tightly-contested 7-6 (4), 6-3, 7-5 doubles win against New Zealand in the Asia-Oceania Davis Cup Group II finals.

Displaying their fighting heart all-throughout the game, Mamiit and Huey played flawless tennis in the doubles event to repulse the pair of G.D. Jones and Mikal Statham at the Philippine Columbian Association Indoor shell court in Paco, Manila.
