WASHINGTON: Jordan Zimmermann sent the Washington Nationals into baseball’s playoffs in style, with a no-hitter against the Miami Marlins in their last game of the regular season on Sunday. The National League East division champion Nationals defeated the Marlins 1-0. Zimmermann’s no-hitter was preserved at the final out by Nationals outfielder Steven Souza, who made a spectacular diving catch of Christian Yelich’s drive to left field to end the game. Souza, who had taken over in the outfield to start the ninth, raced for the ball in the gap and leapt to make the catch. It was the first no-hitter thrown by a pitcher in a Nationals uniform.
