Nat’l Heritage Month opens in Sarangani


The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) opened this year’s National Heritage Month in the province of Sarangani from on May 24 until today in time with the celebration of the annual Sarbay Festival.

The National Heritage Month, per Proclamation 439, recognizes “the need create among the people a consciousness, respect, and pride for the legacies of Filipino cultural history, and love of country.” The whole country is given a chance to highlight and appreciate its cultural treasures. It is also an occasion to raise awareness on their significance.

The opening of Taoid 2013 during the Sarbay Festival on May 24 at Gumasa, Glan was one of the highlights of the 2013 NHM.. There was also a technical assessment of cultural properties for possible intervention projects in Lamlifew Village Museum and Lake Sebu on May 25 and today, respectively.
