NATO training exercises in eastern Europe send signal to Russia

RIGA: The continued military exercises of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in eastern Europe on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) aimed at delivering a “loud and clear” message to Russia that the alliance will defend its members. A large airdrop of troops at Latvia’s Lielvarde military base marked the latest stage of NATO’s Steadfast Javelin II training exercises, which began on September 1 and continue until September 10.
