NBA players to play charity game in Manila


Three more National Basketball Association (NBA) players will also be part of the basketball charity event with Gilas Pilipinas on July 22 to 23 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan announced on Tuesday on his twitter account that the Finals Most Valuable Player Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs, Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors and rookie Nick Johnson of Houston Rockets are the latest additions to the basketball event featuring other NBA players.

They will join power forward Blake Griffin of Los Angeles Clippers, playmaker Damian Liliard of Portland Trail Blazers, Paul Pierce of New Jersey Nets and swing man DeMar DeRozan.

The charity game entitled “The Last Home Stand” aims to raise funds for the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation.

Kobe Bryant of Los Angeles, Kevin Durant of Oklahoma Thunder, Derrick Rose of Chicago Bulls, Chris Paul, Derek Fisher, Tyreke Evans of New Orleans Hornets, JaVale McGee of Denver Nuggets, and Derrick Williams of Sacramento Kings played in an exhibition game with Gilas Pilipinas in 2011 also at the Araneta Coliseum.
