GETTING clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now a breeze.
The tedious process that once required lining up for hours has been shortened. Under the new system, an applicant can secure an NBI clearance in a matter of several minutes.
All applicants need to do is register online, pay and show up at an NBI processing center to have his or her photo and biometrics taken.
“The online registration, appointment and e-Payment system is our response to provide a more efficient and convenient process of issuing NBI clearance. It is a solution to eradicate queuing at the NBI clearance centers, shorten both waiting and processing time,” NBI Director Virgilio Mendez said.
Mendez said the system started early this year with the launch of the website clearance.nbi.gov.ph.
After filling out the form online, applicants can pay the necessary fees online or through banks.
On the appointment date, the applicant may proceed to any of the 72 clearance processing centers nationwide for photo capture and finger biometrics, and clearance printing.
With the new system, the NBI can issue 6,000 clearances in a day, compared to the 4,000 it issued during the peak months of January, February, March and April.
