NCAA cancels Monday games because of heavy traffic

THE management committee of the 89th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) decided to cancel the Monday games featuring the San Beda College Red Lions vs. Arellano University Chiefs and Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals vs. Mapua Cardinals at The Arena in San Juan City.

Dax Castellano of host College of Saint Benilde and chairman of the management committee, said that they have decided to postpone the games because of the heavy traffic caused by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) Medical Mission that was held in several parts of Metro Manila.

“We understand the difficulties that our students and athletes may encounter going to the venue. We will advise when the postponed games will be rescheduled,” said Castellano in a press release.

The postponement means that the double round elimination would be extended beyond October 24, which is supposedly the last day of the eliminations leading to the Final Four battle.

Also cancelled was the secondary matches featuring the Emilio Aguinaldo Brigadiers vs. Mapua Red Robins and San Beda Red Cubs vs. Arellano Braves.

The oldest collegiate league in the country also postponed several games because of heavy rains caused by the monsoon last month.
