Cameroonian Cedric Noube Happi, Elyzar Paguia and Jack Arquero led the Generals’ offense to secure their ninth win against eight losses.
The Heavy Bombers threatened for the last time, 62-64, on
Michael Mabulac, Philip Paniamogan and Juan Salaveria’s 11-2 run midway in the last quarter, but the Generals responded with a 10-2 burst to escape with the win.
Jose Rizal suffered its 11th setback in 17 games.
Generals Coach Gerry Esplana said there is no reason to celebrate yet because their mission of clinching a Final Four berth is not done. But at least they were able to avenge a 79-85 loss to the Bombers in the first round of the elimination.
Emilio Aguinaldo will face cellar dweller Mapua Institute of Technology in their last game on Saturday.
Business Administration freshman Happi topscored for the Generals with 18 points.
