• NCAA Mancom slaps penalty on players involved in brawl


    THE Management Committee of the 90th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on Tuesday meted a five-game suspension on John Tayongtong of Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals and four-game suspension on Leo Gabo of Mapua Institute of Technology Cardinals for participating in the brawl during the last 28.5 seconds of their game on Monday.

    Paul Supan of host Jose Rizal University said that the Mancom condemns the incident that occurred in the game won by EAC Generals, 86-77, over Mapua.

    Besides Tayongtong, also given three-game suspension were Jan Jamon, Ariel Aguilar and Jack Arquero, John Santos, Manelle Quilanita will serve a two-game suspension and Edsel Saludo while Faustine Pascual was suspended for just one game.

    A three-game suspension was imposed on Mapua’s Jomari Tubiano, two games suspension for Justin Serrano, James Galoso, Exeqiel Biteng, Andrew Eestrella, while Jerome Canaynay, Ronnel Villasenor and Darrel Magsigay were given one-game penalty.

    Even referees Molly de Luna, Menard Ballecer and Cholo Caoile were fined and suspended indefinitely by the Mancom board.
