THE games of the 89th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) resume today when the Arellano University Chiefs collide with host College of Saint Benilde Blazers (CSB) at The Arena in San Juan City.
Coach Koy Banal’s Chiefs will face the Blazers in a crucial battle, as they need to sweep their three remaining matches and hope that San Sebastian College Stags and Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals would not win more than nine games.
The Arellano Chiefs vs. Saint Benilde match begins at 4 p.m. while cellar dweller Mapua Institute of Technology Cardinals take on the Lyceum Pirates in already a non-bearing game at 6 p.m.
The secondary matches pit the Arellano Braves against the CSB-La Salle Greenhills
Greenies at 12 p.m. and the Mapua Red Robins against the Lyceum Junior Pirates at 2 p.m.
A loss by the Chiefs would end their Final Four bid leaving San Sebastian Stags (9-7) and EAC Generals (8-8) to contest the fourth and last Final Four berth. The first three slots are already taken by Letran Knights with a 14-3 win-loss slate while defending titlist San Beda College Red Lions are closely behind with 13-3 followed by University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas with 11-6.
