NCAA: Perpetual wins 3rd women’s volleyball title

University of Perpetual Help System won its third straight title in NCAA women’s volleyball after edging Arellano University in Game 3 of their finals series Thursday at the Arena in San Juan City.

The Lady Altas relied on hard-hitting Honey Royse Tubino, the finals’ Most Valuable Player, in hacking out a 17-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-27, 15-6 victory.

Tubino fired 35 points, including the last kill that clinched the final set for the Altas.

Perpetual won the first game, 27-29, 25-13, 25-16, 21-25, 15-9, behind the 27 points of Tubino, while Arellano won the second in straight sets, 25-21, 25-22, 25-6, to equalize the best-of-three championship series.
